Blue Lamy Safari Rollerball

Originally designed in 1980 with young people in mind, this pen addressed the specific functional needs for classroom use and painstakingly integrating such features into the design : namely resilience to breakage and ergonomics. 'User experience' was at the centre of the design process and words like "adventure" and "freedom" set the tone for the pen's spirit and now so aptly encapsulates the values Lamy stands for. The distinct triangle shaped grip (to help with correct finger and hand posture) to facilitate long periods of effortless writing ; its signature study metal clip, fit to withstand high levels of wear and tear ; the flat side of the barrel, which stops the pen from rolling away ; the practical window for checking the cartridge ink level are features which make the Safari a workhorse of a pen sold a very affordable price.
Far beyond the classroom the Safari has become a true design classic and has excellent street cred amongst creatives in particular in the yellow colour - the definite choice for architects and design purists.
