Tarot Playing Cards, Industrie & Glück Tarock
A faithful reproduction of Industrie und Glück (Early Modern German for “Diligence and Fortune”) playing cards. These French-suited cards have been used in trick-taking games for centuries, but this particular design, first produced in 1815, fell out of favour around the First World War. Still popular in Central Europe, we are grateful that this early design was reproduced more recently, to be enjoyed for centuries more.
A natural progression for our shop and our love of paper, given the parallel narrative between card manufacturing and decorative paper making both utilising the craft knowledge of woodblock print.
